2008 Lou Bradley Pro-Am October 17-19


The 2008 Lou Bradley Pro-Am featured 4 of the top 8 best racquetball players in the world. Shave Vanderson defeated Mitch Williams in the pro final. The draws were very deep in this tournament, and sadly none of the Badgers sandbagged enough to make it to the finals in any division. Luckily the hospitality oin the Lost Court bar was enough to save our spirits. Full results can be found here



2008 PAC Summer Open August 15-17


Prairie Athletic Club held its annual Summer Open on August 15-17 2008 and a small contingent of Badgers was not afrid to brave the hot summer weather. The Open draw was particularly strong at this event, and spectators were treated to high caliber play all weekend long. Tim Willimas won the Mens B, and Jen Stone won the Womens A Consolation. As always, PAC provided excellent hospitality and a great event.



2008 Badger State Games June 27-28


A host of Badger players came out and represented at the 2008 Badger State games. Brandon Baseman and Jeff Moirano were #1 and 2 respectivey in the Mens B draw. Jennifer Stone continued her unbeaten streak winning both women's A and B. Josh Lapin took third place in the combined B/C age division in a tough draw, while Tim Williams, John Schnelle and Nathan Counley helped the badgers claim the prize for most time spent in the lost court bar. A good time was had by all.



2008 Motorola IRT Pro Nationals April 23-27, 2008


The 2008 IRT Pro Nationals featured almost every top 50 player in the world competing for the grand slam title and $25,000. The portable all glass court also made its debut to the delight of hundreds of fans. The amateur draw was also tough, but the pros stole the show as #2 Jack Huczek defeated #1 Rocky Carson in a grueling 5 game final. Both semis also went the full 5 games, to the delight of fans around the world watching live on espn360.com.




University of Wisconsin Spring Fling- April 12, 2008


The 2008 UW Spring Fling was a smash success with over 100 matches played and representatives from 10 different schools filling out one of the toughest intercollegiate draws outside of Nationals. More pizza was consumed at this event than any other in history, luckily the participants burned 82,531 calories on the courts.

2008 US National Collegiate Championships, March 26-29, 2008


Three hungry Badgers traveled to Kansas City to represent our fine university in the 2008 USAR Intercollegiate National Championships. This tournament featured 280+ of the best collegiate athletes in the country, and UW-Madison was 34th overall in team points. Jeff Moirano took 3rd place in the Men's #2 Red Division, while the doubles team of Travis Reinke and Brandon Baseman had a couple tough victories before being eliminated in the #1 doubles. The team also placed first in the barbecue eating contest, and in the digital orienteering competition. Official results here.




2008 Pinchshot.com Midwest Intercollegiates - Feb 8-10, 2008


UW Racquetball brought a small but powerful team to this years' Pinchshot tournament in St. Louis. The competition level at this tournament was tough in the upper brackets as always. Every team member scored points and played some great matches, and for a team of only 3 men and 3 women, we did extremely well. UW earned an impressive six medals in the Intercollegiate divisions, with Brandon Baseman winning 2nd place in Magenta, Travis Reinke winning 1st in Red, Stephanie Eisch winning 2nd in Women's Red, and Erin Kreuger winning 2nd in Women's White, and the doubles team of Travis Reinke and Brandon Baseman took 1st place in doubles consolation. Nicole Thompson took 3rd in Red with a couple clutch wins, and the mixed doubles team of Jeff Moirano and Stephanie Eisch (Team Clydesdale) took 4th in a very tough bracket. Jeff Moirano also placed second in Men's B consolation. We took second in our conference, and 5th overall. Official results and Pictures.




IRT Pro Stop- Milwaukee Pro-Am Jan 24-27, 2008


Professional Racquetball returned to Wisconsin at the Wisconsin Athletic Club in West Allis just outside Milwaukee. IRT ranked #1Rocky Carson, #6 Mitch Williams, #5 Shane Vanderson and #7 Ben Croft were all in attendance, plus some of the best open level players in the midwest filled out the Pro draw. The bar above the courts was packed, and the action on the courts did not disappoint. The semifinals had two big upsets with Mitch Williams taking out Shane Vanderson in three straight games, and Ben Croft eliminating the #1 seed Rocky Carson in a grueling 5 game match. In the finals, Williams defeated Croft in 4 games.



UW Winter Blast Dec 1, 2008


The UW Club Racquetball Fall tournament was a huge success! 75 players from 8 different schools participated, and the level of play was great in all divisions. More importantly, everyone had a fantastic time. For proof, check out the pictures! Special thanks to all the teams who traveled, and we hope to see you again in the spring!



2007 Lou Bradley Pro-AM Tournament October 19-21 2008


Jack Huczek, the #1 ranked professional racquetball player in the world, won the 2007 Lou Bradley Pro-Am in Sun Prairie. He beat #7 ranked Ben Croft in three straight in the finals. Croft (age 22) is a current collegiate player for University of Colorado at Pueblo. Other top pros in attendance were #8 Chris Crowther, #9 Jason Thoerner, #11 Alejandro Herrera, and #14 Juan Herrera.
The draw featured 157 players in 22 divisions from nine different states – PAC’s biggest tournament in more than 20 years. Official wrapup and results are here.



UW Spring Fling 2007


The 2007 Spring Fling was yet another fantastic UW tournament featuring more pizza than anyone had ever dreamed of.

Pinchshot.com Midwest Intercollegiate Championships Feb 16-18 2007


The UW Racquetball club travelled to St. Louis to participate in the 2007 Pinchshot.com Midwest Intercollegiate Championships on Feb 16-18. Almost 20 schools participated and some of the top ranked players in the nation were present, and we're proud to report that Wisconsin brought home the trophy for 3rd place team overall. In the blue singles division it was all Wisconsin as Brandon Miller and Kevin Arnold took the 1 and 2 singles spots respectively. Kevin Arnold and Mike Kaufman took 1st in red doubles. The rest of the team fared well with everyone putting wins on the board securing third place by Sunday afternoon.
