UW Racquetball Ladder Rules
1. You may challenge the player up to five positions above you on the ladder. When you join the ladder you may challenge a player in the lower 80% of the rankings for your first challenge.

2. All games should be played within 7 days of a challenge being made (unless there are extenuating circumstances) otherwise the challenger wins.

3. You should play your game at a mutually convenient time. Arrange matches with opponent via email, or contact the administrator to extend the deadline.

4. If the person being challenged does not reply within the alloted time period, then the challenger wins by forfeit. If you forfeit a match without contacting your opponent and trying to work it out, you will drop 10 places.

5. If either party is more than 20 minutes late in attending an agreed match then the late or non attender loses the match.

6. If you make a successful challenge, you take the place of the person that you beat. All other players below shuffle down one spot.

7. Matches are best of 3 with the first two games to 15, and a tiebreaker to 11 if necessary. You can alter this if you like, but make arrangements before the match.

8. Please check with your opponent any rule clarifications prior to playing. Official rules are linked above.

9. If no result has been recorded by two thirds of the way through the challenge period a reminder is emailed to both parties.

10. If no result has been recorded by the end of the challenge period a warning is sent to record the result within 3 days ie- 'grace period'.

11. If no result has been recorded by the end of the grace period (10 days from the initial challenge) the challenger automatically wins by forfeit.

12. If the challenger wishes to cancel the challenge they may do so from the result entry page with no consequences. Repeated cancellations are not encouraged.

13. If the challenged person (challengee) wishes to forfeit the challenge at any time they can do so from the result entry page and the game is won by the challenger by forfeit. They may also take a break from the ladder with no penalty while under challenge with a legitimate reason.

14. If you cannot play matches for a period of time you may take a break from the ladder from the options page. Upon returning, you may return to the position you left but ONLY with the permission of the admin. (via email) This is to prevent 'hiding' from challenges.

15. Any questions, suggestions or clarifications should be directed to the administrator. Have fun!

The Basics
If you have never played in a racquetball ladder before it's a great way for new players to get started, improve your game, and meet new people. Here are the basics... No matter where you start on the ladder, after a period of time you will end up playing games with people of similar ability. If you improve, you are likely to go up the ladder but you will then be playing against harder opponents. If you wish to take a break from the ladder (e.g. you are away for 6 months) then you can do so by clicking on 'take a break' from the admin page (you need to be logged in to access this page). When you are ready to make a challenge, go to the rankings page (you must be logged in first). Then click on the player you wish to challenge and follow the instructions. You can only challenge players above yourself in ranking.
